This subject analyses the movement from the disjuncture of the Indigenous Australian Worldviews and Colonial Worldviews and their emergence to current states. By examining selected historical events and phases and using an Indigenous Australian Worldview paradigm, the emergence and assertion of Indigenous Australian knowledges, beliefs and relationships are examined. Topics and issues of recent importance have particular focus and emphasis.
Learning Objectives:
- identify and describe current expressions for Indigenous Australian Worldviews;
- analyse reponses to the assertion of Indigenous Australian Worldviews;
- examine the position of Indigenous Australian Worldviews to Australian society;
- further development skills for critical analysis of Indigenous Australian representations in a variety of sources and materials.
Assessment by attendance and participation (10%); tutorial presentation (45%); essay (45%).
