Indigenous Australian Worldviews 1

This subject is offered through flexible delivery mode, first semester. Delivery is through a combination of external package plus intensive seminars, readings and tutorial tasks which will be negotiated with the lecturer at the commencement of the subject.
Available to Bachelor of Indigenous Studies and other undergraduate students.

This subject introduces students to the Worldviews of Indigenous Australians Aboroiginal people and Torres Strait Islander people. It outlines the perceptions, knowledges and interpretations of Indigenous Australians and provides students with opportunities to discuss and respond to these Worldviews as they particularly relate to place and people.
Learning Objectives:
- recognise and gain an understanding of Indigenous Australian Worldviews;
- analyse and discuss the social, physical, historical and cultural ingredients of Indigenous Australisn societies;
- develop an appreciation for the ways in which Indigenous knowledges are constructed;
- develop skills for the critical analysis of primary resources.
Assessment by journal (40%); project (30%); essay (30%).
