The presentation of a cultural portrait through a selection of various texts and visual media (in English).

Learning Objectives:

  1. give students a basic understanding of those factors which support the cultural framework of Japan;
  2. introduce Japanese society and its individuals both from a popular as well as a more traditional perspective.

Assessment by two tutorial presentations (50%); major essay (50%).
