Interactive Processes I

The subject aims to develop an understanding and appreciation of the importance of interpersonal skills in health care practice. The focus is the development of effective communication skills and helping behaviours within the context of a therapeutic relationship.

Learning Objectives:

  1. explore the helping role of a health care provider;
  2. understand the process of effective interpersonal communication in relation to the helping process;
  3. develop an awareness of how own value system and health carer role expectations affect interactions in a health care setting;
  4. evaluate own communication effectiveness and competence;
  5. develop effective interviewing skills.
