History Honours Thesis

Prerequisites: Admission to honours program

Full year.

Staff: Individual supervisors.

Individually selected topic approved by the School’s Honours Admissions Panel and agreed to by the nominated supervisor. The length of the thesis will be approximately 25,000 words.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To establish that the candidate can produce a scholarly work which makes an original contribution to knowledge or understanding of the candidate’s field of study. The thesis is expected to show evidence of:
    extensive knowledge of the field of study; an ability to sustain an argument through a major study; well developed research skills appropriate to the branch of the discipline in which the thesis is undertaken; ability to write clear, scholarly prose; careful observance of the conventions of presentation.

Assessment by at least two examiners, either internal or external. The thesis will contribute 75% towards the level 4 honours result and grade.
