Teamwork for Environment Professionals

Prerequisites: An introductory subject in statistics or biometry

39 lectures, 26 hours practicals. Second semester.

Principles of project design and research methodology for environmental projects. Proposal preparation. Techniques for working in teams. A supervised group project in which students work together on an environmental problem.

Learning Objectives:

  1. some appreciation of interpersonal differences and their impact on team functioning;
  2. a basic knowledge of group dynamics;
  3. teamwork skills;
  4. knowledge and experience of the processes and procedures required to undertake a successful research project in Environmental Science;
  5. basic knowledge of questionnaire design;
  6. improved skills in verbal and written communication.

Assessment by examination (35%); on-course assessment (65%) (research project; seminar; project notebook; literature review; research proposal).
