Environmental and Regional Planning

This subject focuses on the concepts and processes of environmental and urban planning and design. Human perceptions of environments, community participation and the process of designing/ planning for an acceptable balance between human use and the physical environment are part of this focus.

Learning Objectives:

  1. have a more developed understanding of how people relate to environments in which they function;
  2. have a working knowledge of environmental design and urban and planning processes;
  3. be able to undertake and complete various components of the planning process (eg. community participation);
  4. be able to critically review planning documents (e.g. site plans, management plans).

Assessment by on-course assignments, tutorial presentation (20%); planning research project (20%); essay (20%); examination (40%).
