Research Methodologies

13 lectures, 13 tutorials, 39 hours workshops. First or second semester.

Available to students enrolled in the Master of Engineering Management course and to other students at the discretion of the Head of School of Engineering.

Literature review and on-line data searches; sampling, data collection, analysis and presentation; statistical methods, formulation and testing of hypotheses; introduction to modelling; report preparation; oral and written presentation of research results; ethics in research.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to understand the role of research in problem-solving and decision-making;
  2. to focus on practical solutions to contemporary problems with reliance on theoretical foundations;
  3. to undertake and manage successful research projects.

On-course assessment including seminar (25%); project reports (75%).
