Kinematics and kinetics of particles. Kinematics and kinetics of rigid bodies. Newtons Second Law. Work-Energy Methods. Friction. Introduction to mechanisms types, constraints, degrees of freedom. Gearing.
Learning Objectives:
- to provide students with knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering dynamics;
- to provide students with knowledge of the fundamentals of vibrations;
- to familiarise students with common mechanisms;
- to provide students with techniques for analysing the performance of mechanisms.
Assessment by examination (50%-70%); on-course assessment (30%-50%).
