Counselling in School Contexts

The subject introduces students to the major theories of counselling and provides opportunities to develop the microskills of counselling. The students are encouraged to investigate the application of the theories and microskills in the context of a school setting.

Learning Objectives:

  1. awareness of the major theories of counselling, including Adlerian, behavioural, reality, transactional, rational emotive, client centred and eclectic;
  2. develop the basic microskills of counselling.

Assessment by seminar presentation (50%); assignment (50%).
