Integrated Primary Curriculum Development and Teaching

Townsville, Cairns

Prerequisites: ED3193 (ED3498 or ED3499)

20 lectures, 20 hours workshops. First semester.

Available to students who have successfully completed ED3193 and are concurrently enrolled in ED4498 or ED4499.

This subject further develops an integrated view of classroom planning, teaching and evaluation, especially long-term planning and curriculum development. Emphasis is also placed on classroom management as a deliberate aspect of a teacher’s classroom practice.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand the research into and historical background and relevance of classroom planning;
  2. be capable of effective classroom planning, at both individual and collaborative levels;
  3. extend the theory of practice relating to the implementation of classroom management.

Assessment will be negotiated with the student cohort, but will centre on completion of an integrated unit plan (55%); a final semester examination (45%).
