An exposition of the theory of international trade, the theory and practice of commercial policy and the theory of open-economy macroeconomics.

Learning Objectives:

  1. have a knowledge of international economics;
  2. be able to evaluate the usefulness and limitations of international economics theory;
  3. be able to apply this theory to a critical evaluation of policy debates in the areas of
  4. international trade, foreign exchange markets and exchange rates and balance of payments adjustment.

Assessment by essay (20%); mid-semester examination (30%); final examination (50%).
