A basic introduction to the methodology of scientific research.

Learning Objectives:

  1. describe different perspectives for the development of scientific knowledge;
  2. describe the nature of research and the research process;
  3. demonstrate an ability to set up researchable questions and to choose an appropriate research method;
  4. demonstrate an ability to use various statistical techniques to analyse research data;
  5. demonstrate an ability to write a research proposal;
  6. demonstrate an ability to understand and evaluate research articles.

Assessment by assignments (45%); research proposal (40%); seminar participation (15%).
