Accounting Software Applications

The subject will be entirely taught by Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE personnel and will be offered subject to their availability.

The subject is offered entirely on a ‘hands-on’ basis and students are exposed to business software packages currently in commercial use. The assessed competency meets the requirements of several TAFE national Accounting modules.

Learning Objectives:

  1. obtain industry competencies, using an Integrated Accounting software package, to perform essential accounting functions, including establishment and maintenance of a client’s chart of accounts recording of transactions; generation of accounting reports; establishment and maintenance of employees’ payroll system;
  2. recommend appropriate hardware and accounting software packages and training to small business operators, permitting the computerisation of a client’s accounting system;
  3. design and maintain electronic spreadsheets to meet specific requirements.

Assessment by practical assignments; written report; observation.
