Literature Review and Proposal

Prerequisites: Consult HoS

First or second semester.

MSc Qualifying candidates will undertake a literature review on a topic selected in consultation with their supervisor(s) and the Course Coordinator. The topic should be pertinent to their minor and/or major projects. The review should be a critical appraisal of the objectives, methodologies and results of previous research relating to the topic. Candidates will also write a formal research proposal for their dissertation or thesis. The proposal will take the form of a standard application for research funding and outline the aims and significance of the research, research plan, timetable, budget and justification.

Assessment is by literature review and proposal.
