Minor Project

Townsville, Cairns

Prerequisites: Consult HoS

First or second semester.

Candidates may spend about six weeks working in an approved on-going project in Tropical Ecology in order to gain experience in working with an established research team (which may be based inside or outside the University). As an alternative and after consultation with the Course Coordinator and Head of School, candidates may undertake a small project similar to the pilot study undertaken by MSc Qualifying students. Candidates will be required to undertake a small literature review and write up the results of their research in the form of a scientific paper.

The written report should include a critical appraisal of the objectives, methodology, results and future directions of the project. Assessment is by project report.
