This is the second of two semesters of mathematics which will cover the Mathematics B syllabus core curriculum for years 11 and 12 as outlined by the Queensland Department of Education. Elements introduced in the first semester are dealt with here in greater depth.

Learning Objectives:

  1. be competent in calculations in both geometry and algebra;
  2. develop an understanding of optimisation using derivatives and integration;
  3. learn to use statistical analysis and compare data sets;
  4. become skilled in problem solving with group tutorial problems as well as with individual assignments;
  5. cover core mathematics 12 curriculum and the application of mathematics to real world problems.

Assessment by assignments (25%); tutorials and participation (10%); two examinations (65%).
