This is the first of two semesters of mathematics which will cover the Mathematics B syllabus core curriculum for years 11 and 12 as outlined by the Queensland Department of Education.

Learning Objectives:

  1. review basic mathematics skills and become familiar with the use of scientific calculators;
  2. develop an understanding of geometry and learn the mathematical relationship for a range of geometric shapes and mathematical functions;
  3. develop an understanding of the plotting and manipulation of data, graphed on exponential and logarithmic scales;
  4. become skilled in problem solving with group tutorial problems as well as with individual assignments;
  5. cover core mathematics 11 curriculum and the application of mathematics to real world problems.

Assessment by assignments (25%); attendance and participation (10%); two examinations (65%).
