Introduction to Health and Biological Sciences 2

This subject is a continuation of the health and biological science taught in BR1236. Further organ systems are examined and their failings explained.

Learning Objectives:

  1. learn the function and dysfunction of organ systems, the central role of genetics and the protective role and disorders of the immune system;
  2. understand the function of major organ systems, their dysfunction in disease and the immune response in defence;
  3. become competent in gathering and presenting biological data;
  4. become familiar with organ dissections and laboratory procedures.

Assessment by laboratory reports (20%); two assignments (10% each); seminar (15%); attendance and participation (15%); examination (30%).
