Human resource management: Professional utilisation and development of workforce.
Operational issues: Range of testing equipment available: modes of operation maintenance and servicing. Interfaces to laboratory information systems.
Quality assurance/quality management: Sample identification and preparation. Quality control. Medico legal considerations. ISO guideline NATA accreditation.
Results: Validation. Registration on central computer system. Interpretation. Expert advice.
Learning Objectives:
- knowledge of issues of human and capital resource management for medical laboratories;
- knowledge of issues of pre, post and analytical quality assurance;
- working knowledge of laboratory information systems;
- understanding of NATA accreditation process for medical testing.
Assessment by written examination (70%); practical examination (30%).
