Available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science, Graduate Diploma, Master of Applied Science or Masters programs.

This subject will introduce the student to aquaculture in tropical Australia. It will provide them with information about the status and methods of production of the major species cultured in this region and about the trends and opportunities for new species culture.
Learning Objectives:
- describe the production and value of the major aquatic species cultured in tropical Australia;
- describe the practices used to culture pearl oysters, barramundi, penaeid prawns and redclaw crayfish;
- describe trends and opportunities for new species aquaculture in tropical Australia.
Assessment by final examination (40%); on-course tests and reports of field trips (40%); written assignment (20%).
