Available to all students subject to portfolio presentation. This is a core subject for Bachelor of Visual Arts and Bachelor of Education students majoring in Art.

This subject will introduce students to the fundamentals of drawing. Students will explore tone, proportion and mark-making in a range of mediums.
Learning Objectives:
- to develop skills in recognising and rendering differences of tone;
- to develop skills in proportional and sight-size measuring;
- to understand and apply principles of linear and aerial perspective;
- to understand and explore conventions in composition;
- to understand and explore objective and subjective viewpoints;
- to explore mark-making in a range of mediums.
Assessment will be based on the average grade of eight prescribed folios of drawings (12 [half]% each, total 100%). The folios will be of equal mark-weighting and will be assessed at progressive stages throughout the year. Students with an attendance of less than 80% of classes will be ineligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer in charge.
