Advanced Tourism Research Techniques

This subject develops research strategies and methodological skills relevant to tourism analysis. Topics considered include case studies, survey methodology, questionnaire construction, field work techniques, simulation methods, behavioural mapping and index construction. Students in this subject produce an individual supervised research project in preparation for the tourism honours thesis.

Learning Objectives:

  1. develop student understanding of the philosophy of tourism research;
  2. develop awareness of research as a process;
  3. develop knowledge of a variety of research methods;
  4. enable students to structure an individually generated research proposal in tourism.
