Chronic disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations: the risk factors associated; primary prevention; role of nutrition in prevention; programs for prevention; epidemiology.

Learning Objectives:

  1. sound knowledge of the chronic diseases of importance in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations;
  2. knowledge of the epidemiology of the disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations;
  3. ability to identify the risk factors associated with the disease;
  4. sound knowledge of the current strategies for the prevention of the disease.

Assessment by participation (10%); assignments (20%); examinations (70%).
