Motor Learning and Motor Control

Prerequisites: (PP2101 or BC2401) (PP2201 or BC2402)

39 lectures, 13 tutorials, 12 hours practicals. Second semester.

Available to level 3 sport and exercise science students.

Staff: Dr L Walker.

Reflex and voluntary control of movement. The principles of motor learning and the motor pattern generator. Motor skills acquisition. Control theories of motor behaviour.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to understand the acquisition and learning of fine motor control;
  2. to be able to evaluate, formulate and solve problems in this area.

Assessment by a three-hour end of semester examination (70%); on-course tutorial assignments (15%); practical (15%).
