Chemistry and Physics Foundations

Cairns

26 lectures, 26 tutorials, 26 hours practicals. First and second semester and February intensive mode.

Available to students without Year 12 or higher qualifications in these subjects.

This subject will introduce students to the basic scientific methods of chemistry and physics which are required for entry into tertiary studies in the sciences.

Learning Objectives:

  1. competence in the entry level concepts of chemistry/physics;
  2. develop expertise in the use of simple mathematical and analytical procedures;
  3. achieve a reasonable level of laboratory skills.

Assessment by written examination (60%); progress tests (20%); laboratory reports (20%).
