Individual supervisors.
Individually selected topic approved by the Honours Admissions Panel of the School and agreed to by the nominated supervisor. The thesis will be approximately 25,000 words.
Learning Objectives:
- to establish that the candidate can produce a scholarly work which makes an original contribution to knowledge or understanding of the candidate’s field of study. The thesis is expected to show evidence of:
- extensive knowledge of the field of study;
- an ability to sustain an argument through a major study;
- well developed research skills appropriate to the branch of the discipline in which the thesis is undertaken;
- ability to write clear, scholarly prose;
- careful observance of the conventions of presentation.
Assessment by examination by at least two examiners, either internal or external. The thesis will contribute 75% towards the level 4 honours result and grade.
