Human Physiology 1

Available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Pharmacy.

This subject provides the foundation for all further studies in human physiology and pharmacology. It includes cell and tissue organisation; tissue excitation and electrophysiology; the physiology of the nervous, musculoskeletal, blood and lymph and immune and cardiovascular systems.

Learning Objectives:

  1. overall body structure and organisation;
  2. cell and tissue structure and classification;
  3. electrical communication within excitable tissues;
  4. the role of blood constituents and lymph in the body;
  5. functional and structural aspects of the nervous, musculoskeletal, immune and cardiovascular systems.

Assessment by a three-hour end-of-semester examination (70%); laboratory work (20%); assignments (10%).
