Midwifery Practice 4

200 hours clinical placement. A residential school may be required. Flexible delivery. Second semester.

This subject consolidates and extends previous learning in midwifery. The modular learning focuses on contemporary issues in midwifery; ethico-legal issues for midwifery professionals; advanced clinical learning.

Learning Objectives:

  1. identify relationships between ethics and professional behaviour by the ability to formulate strategies for promoting ethical practice;
  2. compare and contrast the various methods of delivery of midwifery care evidenced by the ability to institute sound midwifery practices;
  3. practice to the full extent of the midwife’s role as a practitioner, according to State and statutory requirements.

On-course assessment (100%).
