Nursing Enquiry 1

13 lectures, 26 tutorials. First semester and by distance education mode.

Nursing Inquiry incorporates three modules. These are: Legal thinking. Critical reflective thinking, which also incorporates problem – solving and journalling. Ways of knowing, which incorporates an introduction to research, theoretical, cultural, interpretive and historical ways of thinking.

Learning Objectives:

  1. evaluate, using literature and readings, the impact of various influences on nursing knowledge and practice;
  2. reflect upon and share how knowledge develops as the result of personal experiences;
  3. discuss the evolution of concepts and values within nursing from ancient to contemporary practice;
  4. explore the links between nursing and women’s knowledge and experience;
  5. develop an understanding of the Australian legal system and how it relates to other social institutions and to nursing.

Assessment by examination (40%); on-course assessment (60%).
