156 hours workshops. Full year.

Available to level 4 mechanical engineering students.

The subject of a thesis may cover:

1. a report of original work performed by the student in the laboratory or field;
2. an investigation of an engineering problem (experimental, theoretical or both);
3. a set of engineering drawings and detailed calculations covering an engineering design.

Learning Objectives:

1. to research a problem under minimal supervision;
2. demonstrate skills in time management and liaison with technical staff;
3. demonstrate an ability to report both orally and in written form;
4. demonstrate a capacity for original thought and independent research.

Assessment by written presentation, oral presentation, literature review, technique, diligence and academic quality.
