Theories of human rights, international human rights documents, human rights treaties and domestic law, protection of human rights in Australia — State and Commonwealth, comparative human rights law — USA, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understanding of the jurisprudential concepts underlying human rights;
  2. a knowledge of substantive human rights law internationally and within Australia;
  3. understand how human rights are protected in other jurisdictions.

Assessment by coursework (25%); examination (75%) (subject to variation).
