This subject has been designed to provide students with an understanding of the basic management principles and practices appropriate to the media industries, including finance, policy and procedures, legal requirements and an understanding of the operations of media organisations and organisations affecting or controlling media.

Learning Objectives:

  1. a knowledge of the key media controlling organisations e.g. Australian Broadcasting Authority;
  2. an understanding of internal media organisation management policies and practices;
  3. an understanding of financial control and budgets;
  4. the ability to undertake project and proposal writing and development;
  5. an appreciation of personnel issues.

Assessment by major assignment (40%); tutorial assignments (30%); tutorial presentation (20%); attendance and participation (10%).
