Media Research Techniques

This subject has been designed to provide students with the information and skills required to locate, acquire, analyse and apply media sources and library materials, to locate and develop contacts and networks and to bring research rigour to development of media materials appreciating Indigenous protocols.

Learning Objectives:

  1. the ability to undertake rigorous research to ensure the validity and accuracy of media materials, within the context of traditional protocols;
  2. the ability to locate existing and appropriate material for inclusion in program material;
  3. the ability to establish and maintain contact with key media libraries;
  4. the ability to access and exploit appropriate expert advice through networks.

Assessment by on-campus written/video assignment (40%); on-campus worksheets and practicals (10%); off-campus assignment (20%); research project (20%); attendance and participation (10%).
