Available to Diploma of Communications students.
This subject covers the principles of writing for non-Indigenous and Indigenous print media and includes instruction in layout skills. The subject is taught using modern print technology.
Learning Objectives:
- empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with the skills required to publish their own stories;
- develop skills in the technology used to produce community newsletters;
- empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with the skills required to tackle a mainstream news story;
- enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to edit, design, layout and print their own stories;
- enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to study further the possibilities of culturally appropriate print media;
- strengthen students news sense and enable them to monitor a wide range of issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the print media.
Assessment by on-campus assignments (60%); off-campus assignment (20%); attendance and participation (20%).
