Physical Education: Health Science

39 lectures, 13 tutorials, 13 hours practicals. Second semester.

Students will acquire a knowledge of the physiological functioning of the human body. The role of human disease will be explored through historical and modern viewpoints. Students gain an integrated knowledge of current health science issues such as drug dependency, diet, fitness concerns and sport injury.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to explain the theoretical foundations relating to the components of health science studies;
  2. to explain the important role health science plays in physical education;
  3. understand the concepts of disease and its impact on the human body.

Assessment by laboratory project (40%); examination (50%).
