French 2A Basic

39 lectures, 13 tutorials, 13 self-access practice hours. Second semester (Townsville campus); a number of intensive workshops and consultation sessions during the semester. Second semester (Cairns campus).

Available to all students who have passed FR2001 or have an equivalent knowledge of French.

General French language appropriate to the objective outlined below.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to take students to a level of transactional proficiency (approximately 1+; on the ISLPR scale). Students will be able:
  1. to modify utterances to express uncertainty or the hypothetical by single word or other simple devices;
  2. to cope with less routine situations in shops, post offices and banks and explain some personal symptoms to a doctor;
  3. to read and write simple continuous prose.

Assessment by in-class tests and/or end-of-semester examinations: listening (25%); speaking (25%); reading (25%); writing (25%).
