A global perspective on problems associated with rapid population growth, patterns of use of renewable and non-renewable resources and the deterioration of the natural environment. The justification for adopting a sustainable development approach. The relative importance of scientific and technological expertise and changes in human values in gaining support for this strategy.
Learning Objectives:
- to provide students with a perspective on ESD that links macro and micro issues and an understanding of implementation of ESD principles from policy to practice.
Assessment by take home examination (50%); verbal presentation (20%); written assignments (30%).
