Terrestrial Resource Management

Principles and concepts in terrestrial resource management including detailed studies of selected methods and problems; management of natural environments including ecological, economic and social aspects; land capability, land degradation, sustainability; protected area management and conservation issues.

Learning Objectives:

  1. this subject is designed to help develop comprehension and appreciation of human-land relationships, especially links with natural resources and ecological processes; a conceptual framework for analysis and evaluation; distinctly geographical elements in resource management; awareness and use of analytical skills; understanding of the major issues in the conservation of biodiversity and the development of ecologically sustainable management.

Assessment by examination (35-50%); seminar (0-10%); project report (10-25%); essay (10-30%).
