Instructional Design and Evaluation

The subject identifies traditional approaches to instructional design and evaluation and critically contrasts them against alternative processes, in the context of different learning environments and individual requirements. The concepts of, and techniques for, needs analysis, team approaches to design, implementation, and evaluation in adult education and training work place environments are a particular focus. In essence, the subject is designed to develop instructional design and evaluation skills and techniques useful and relevant to the student as the designer and facilitator of adult learning experiences.

Learning Objectives:

  1. critically evaluate models of instructional design and evaluation;
  2. construct informed perspectives on the various issues involved in the field of instructional design and evaluation;
  3. instructionally design a project of your choice and evaluate that instructional design;
  4. reflect on your engagement with content applicable to this subject and your learning journey with your project.

Assessment by project (70%) (Part A – Portfolio (50%), Part B – Essay (20%); E-mail or WWW discussions or reflective journal (30%) (this item is negotiable depending on student circumstances).
