Workplace Language Literacy and Numeracy

The subject provides an understanding of the significance of communication practices in the workplace. The subjects provides a framework for workplace text analysis, skills in identifying language, literacy and numeracy competencies, and strategies to integrate language, literacy and numeracy competencies in training programs.
Learning Objectives:
- identify a range of spoken and written tasks in the workplace and begin to use text analysis skills;
- identify and integrate language literacy and numeracy competencies in training programs.
Assessment by three workplace texts and complete brief text analysis for each (approx 2,000 words) (40%); 3,000 word (or equivalent) model training program integrating language literacy and numeracy competencies (60%).
