Workplace Language Literacy and Numeracy

Available to Postgraduate Certificate, BEd (Professional Development) and Master of Education students.

The subject provides an understanding of the significance of communication practices in the workplace. The subjects provides a framework for workplace text analysis, skills in identifying language, literacy and numeracy competencies, and strategies to integrate language, literacy and numeracy competencies in training programs.

Learning Objectives:

  1. identify a range of spoken and written tasks in the workplace and begin to use text analysis skills;
  2. identify and integrate language literacy and numeracy competencies in training programs.

Assessment by three workplace texts and complete brief text analysis for each (approx 2,000 words) (40%); 3,000 word (or equivalent) model training program integrating language literacy and numeracy competencies (60%).
