Geology Honours

Townsville

First and second semester.

Available to students who have completed the BSc strand in Geology at James Cook University or an equivalent qualification from another institution and who are seeking research training in any subdiscipline of geology in which the department has research expertise and resources: economic geology, sedimentary and marine geology, geochemistry and mineralogy, regional geology, tectonics and landscape evolution, stratigraphy and palaeontology.

Candidates may enrol to commence study at the beginning of either the first or second semester. The subject includes:

  1. a field and laboratory based thesis involving original research work.
  2. a selection of specialist short courses offered in the department at level 4, specialised reading, discussion and study, which includes the completion of specific assignments.
