An introduction to marine sedimentary environments with emphasis on the sedimentary processes operating around coral reefs and tropical continental shelves.

Learning Objectives:

  1. the physical processes that control the sedimentology of marine environments;
  2. likely responses of reef and sediment packages to changing sea level;
  3. the factors that control the distribution of reefs, beaches cays and swamps on tropical shelves.

Assessment by final examination (60%); field trip report (20%); weekly task sheet assignments (20%).
