Information Technology Directed Study

Prerequisites: Permission of HOS
Inadmissable Subject Combination: CP5060

Half-hour of personal supervision per fortnight. First and second semester.

Available to level 4 Bachelor of Information Technology students.

Directed study in Computer Science, to be carried out under the supervision of a staff member. Students will complete some facet of a research project, in an area of Computer Science. A complete account of the work performed will be documented in a report and also presented in a seminar.

Learning Objectives:

  1. apply the basic principles and methods of scientific literature searching and/or project development;
  2. produce a report of information gathered during a literature survey or software project;
  3. apply skills gained in the verbal presentation of ideas and technical material via a formal seminar presentation.

Two items of assessment are required (the nature and proportion at the supervisor’s discretion).
