The theory and practice of database design and implementation in a business context including: data modelling, data analysis, audit controls, database recovery, security and integrity.
Learning Objectives:
- describe what a database management system is and how it organises data;
- explain the principles of data analysis and data modelling used to design a database;
- identify and describe the requirements for creating a database environment, including issues relevant to an accountant/auditor;
- demonstrate ability to design a database and use a database language.
Assessment by class test/s (20%); assignment/s (10%); final examination (70%).
