The role of business information systems in an organisation; the use of technology in business information systems; techniques used for problem solving and computer programming by end-users.

Learning Objectives:

  1. describe the information need within an organisation;
  2. identify, and discuss the relationships between the various types of information systems;
  3. describe the components of information systems;
  4. describe the steps in developing an information system;
  5. demonstrate their ability to solve problems using end-user systems development tools.

Assessment by class test/s (20%); assignment/s (20%); final examination (60%).
