An introduction to the study of genres in the cinema by the study of a group of films belonging to one genre (e.g. the love story genre, the thriller genre).
Learning Objectives:
- introduce students to the concept of genres;
- familiarise students with common elements of filmic expression.
Assessment by four minor assignments (40%); class participation (20%); major assignment (40%).
