The built environment. Energy economics. Heating. Ventilation. Air conditioning design and installation. Condensation in buildings. Vertical transport – lifts and escalators. Plant and service areas. Plumbing and drainage according to AS3500.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand and perform the essential design of air conditioning systems;
  2. carry out economic assessment of thermal insulation of buildings and services;
  3. critically evaluate building services equipment;
  4. understand recent advances in building services engineering;
  5. understand basic principles in plumbing and drainage design.

Assessment by examination (50%-70%); on-course assessment (30%-50%).
