Minor Project – Environmental Chemistry

Prerequisites: Consult HOS

6 weeks on an approved laboratory research project in environmental chemistry.

Available to postgraduate students undertaking the postgraduate diploma in environmental chemistry.

Staff: Dr G Jones, Dr M Ridd.

Candidates may spend about six weeks working on an approved project in marine chemistry, environmental chemistry, marine pollution, chemical oceanography, environmental analytical chemistry in order to gain experience working with an established research team (which may be based inside or outside the university).

Learning Objectives:

  1. to help students understand the basic principles involved when carrying out a research project in environmental chemistry.

Assessment by production of a written report. This report should include a critical appraisal of the objectives, methodology, results and future direction of the project.
