Advanced Inorganic Chemistry

15 lectures, 50 hours practicals. First semester. CH3022 is a required corequisite subject.

Integrated lectures and library assignments on selected inorganic topics largely connected to research currently underway within the School.

Learning Objectives:

  1. to provide students with a knowledge of selected areas of modern inorganic chemistry research;
  2. to provide students with an introduction to practical aspects of chemical research by means of an advanced laboratory research project;
  3. to provide an introduction to research for students proceeding to Honours or postgraduate research courses;
  4. to provide insight into the philosophical basis of science as expressed through inorganic chemistry.

Assessment by two 2000-3000 word assignments (50%); 50 hour laboratory research project (50%).
